About Course

The Foundation Course is the entry point into the World Chase Tag® ecosystem. It builds a deep understanding of the sport and prepares participants to actively contribute to their local Chase Tag® community.

What you will learn

The certification covers four modules:

  • Module 1: History and the WCT Ecosystem. The founders of the sport, key stages in its development, the international network of communities and competitions, core values, and Chase Tag®’s place in today’s sporting landscape.
  • Module 2: Rules and Officiating. Sudden Death Chase-Off™, the Quad™, Evasion Quality, video review, fouls and penalties, injury protocols during competition, and the role of the referee.
  • Module 3: Organising Community Events. Setting up ranked sessions, jams, and workshops in your local community: preparation, logistics, running, event communication, and post-event follow-up.
  • Module 4: Community Development. Join the WCT Discord server and subscribe to the official channels, contribute by commenting, liking, and sharing content, create your own WCT posts, be a positive force in your local community, and report issues to help resolve them quickly.

Who is this training for?

The Foundation Training is designed for Chase Tag® enthusiasts who want to deepen their understanding of the sport and actively contribute to their community. It is particularly suited to aspiring referees, event organizers, local ambassadors, and anyone considering the L1 Coach Certification path.

Structure

The program is a self-paced online course. Most participants earn their certification within a few days.

Outcomes

This certification positions you as a knowledgeable and engaged member of the community, capable of refereeing sessions, organizing local events, and contributing to building a vibrant Chase Tag® culture around you. It also forms the necessary basis before pursuing L1 coaching certification.

Course Content

Module 1: WCT History & Ecosystem
By the end of this module, you understand how World Chase Tag® came to be, who the people are who carry it forward day to day, and how it is organised at a global scale. You are able to explain the sport, its values, and how it works to anyone who takes an interest, and to direct more specific questions to the right contacts.

Module 2: Rules & The Quad™
By the end of this module, you will be able to explain all core WCT® rules and their purpose in ensuring fair play, identify all obstacles on the 12m and 8m Quad™, analyse match scenarios to determine correct rulings, apply safety protocols during training and competition and understand the role and responsibilities of referees.

Module 3: Organising Community Events
By the end of this module, you know the different WCT event formats and how to choose the right one for your goal. You are able to plan your first event from start to finish, manage basic logistics and safety, communicate with your participants before, during, and after the event, and lead a group with inclusive leadership, including when things do not go as planned.

Module 4: Community Development
At the end of this module, you know how to actively join the World Chase Tag® community online and locally, how to contribute concretely to the growth of the sport (interactions, content, invitations, welcoming newcomers), and how to embody WCT values in your day-to-day behaviour. You also know how to pass the right information to the right people to help your community move forward.
