Common Questions

Everything you need to know about the WCT® Certification Program.

Level 0 (Foundations) is open to everyone. No prerequisites required. Whether you're a fitness professional, teacher, parent, or just curious about Chase Tag®, you're welcome to start here. Level 1 requires completion of Level 0, and Level 2 requires both Level 0 and Level 1.

Level 0 takes approximately 4-6 hours to complete. Level 1 is more comprehensive, typically requiring 13-16 hours spread across multiple sessions. Level 2 is an intensive on-site training that runs 3 days on location. All online courses are self-paced, so you can take as long as you need.

WCT® certifications are the official global standard for Chase Tag® instruction. Your certification is valid worldwide and recognized by all WCT® licensed gyms and events. You'll be listed in our global coach directory and can teach anywhere in the world.

You must be at least 16 years old to enroll in any WCT® certification course. For Level 2, we recommend having prior coaching or teaching experience, though it's not a strict requirement.

Certifications are valid for 2 years from the date of completion. Renewal is simple. You'll complete a brief refresher module covering any rule updates and new best practices. This ensures all WCT® coaches stay current with the latest standards. Renewal is free if done within 6 months of the 2 years anniversary of your initial certificate.

Level 1 is for coaches and staff working under a Head Coach's supervision. Level 2 (Head Coach) is for those leading the program at their venue. You set the curriculum, maintain WCT® quality standards, and ensure all licensing requirements are met. Level 2 is required for gym licensing and includes on-site training with master instructors..

Level 2 trainings are held at WCT® licensed facilities around the world. Find & apply for the next level 2 course.

No. While the official Quad™ is used in WCT® competitions, you can coach Chase Tag® sessions using adapted setups, open spaces, or existing gym equipment. The courses teach you how to run safe and effective sessions in various environments.

Certified coaches get access to the WCT® Coach Portal with downloadable resources, online calculators and tools. You'll also join our global coach community where you can connect with other coaches, ask questions, and stay updated on rule changes.

Gym licensing requires at least one Level 2 certified Head Coach on staff (typically the owner or head coach). Once certified, contact our licensing team to discuss Quad™ setup, marketing support, and annual licensing fees. Licensed gyms can host official WCT® events and classes.
